Job Summary
Farsi Interpreter (CAT II) for TU CENTCOM Support responsible for providing oral interpretation, transcription, reporting, and translation services. Duties include consecutive interpretation and translation between English and Farsi in large group settings, coordinating meetings, drafting correspondence, and aligning with military and partner-nation discussions. Travel is required (CONUS/OCONUS) with assignments at designated sites, operating as part of a professional team, and performing field operations as needed. A valid passport is required; a SECRET security clearance is desired. The role emphasizes language proficiency, cultural familiarity, and the ability to conduct interpretation and translation across military contexts, while supporting multiple sites including Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA and Tampa, FL.
Required Qualifications
- Must have experience and skill in Farsi and English translating/interpreting, transcribing and documenting conversation
- Professional working proficiency in Farsi and English, at a 3/3/3/3 level for listening, speaking, reading, and writing
- Must have an industry recognized certification that proves you possess the language proficiency in order to satisfactorily support the resulting contract
- Must have experience providing consecutive interpretation services between English and Farsi native speakers
- Must possess skills to quickly and effectively translate between Farsi/English & English/Farsi in a large group setting while discussing one or more topics
- Shall have the familiarity with and ability to conduct oneself in accordance with the local culture and customs
- Shall have the ability to function as an integral member of a team
- Able to work for a minimum of eight (8) hours a day up to twelve (12) hours a day, five (5) days per week up to seven (7) days per week, and may work on official holidays
- Must possess a valid passport or be able to acquire a passport
- Prior military experience (desired)
- Previous experience in the CENTCOM region supporting U.S. and/or partner nation activities (desired)
- Clearance: Must possess an active SECRET Security Clearance (required for some roles)
