Job Summary
Farm Manager 1 responsible for managing the full profit & loss and a multi-million dollar asset base to drive profitability of the farm through lowering cost of production and increasing quality and volume of wean pigs shipped. Leads a team of Team Leads and/or Production Technicians on a ~2500 head mated farm or smaller; participates in developing annual operating goals, HR needs, and farm business plans; monitors biological and financial performance, and implements countermeasures. Oversees recruiting, onboarding, and development of new team members; promotes safe work habits and a safe environment; coordinates farm inputs (air, feed, water, labor, gilts, medications, supplies, fuel); implements SOPs and innovations to improve production and environmental stewardship; manages pig care practices to maintain animal health and bio-security in coordination with Health Services; identifies capital repairs and maintains preventative maintenance; compensation and benefits are described in the package.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, Agriculture or related field preferred
- 3 years management experience required
- Bachelor's degree may be substituted for two years of management experience
- Knowledge of Livestock/swine management and handling
- Standard maintenance procedures
- Basic computer skills (MS Office, Internet Explorer)
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Monitor and develop subordinates to ensure smooth operation
- Desire to learn new skills
- Use production records to facilitate improvements
- Confront direct reports and hold people accountable
- Understand company vision and strategy
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills

- Targeted pay range of $60,000-70,000 depending on experience and qualifications
