Job Summary
Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment, buildings, and facility systems, including inspecting for needs before failures occur and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and plumbing issues. Repair or replace worn components, maintain ventilation and feeding systems, and respond promptly to breakdowns while completing work orders accurately. Operate hand tools, power tools, welders, and lifts safely, keeping areas clean and compliant with biosecurity protocols and Lockout/Tagout procedures. Support emergency repairs and participate in an on-call rotation as required. This role supports poultry breeding operations at Aviagen, ensuring equipment reliability, employee safety, and animal welfare within breeding houses, maintenance shops, and outdoor environments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must comply with all biosecurity, sanitation, and animal welfare requirements
- Overtime, weekend, holiday, and emergency response work may be required based on operational needs
Desired Qualifications
- Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical, HVAC, mechanical systems, or a related field
- Experience Zero to two (0–2) years of maintenance experience in agricultural, manufacturing, industrial, or commercial environments
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience operating maintenance tools and equipment
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
- Ability to read basic technical manuals, work instructions, and safety procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with team members
- Willingness to learn new maintenance techniques and equipment
- Basic computer skills for work order and maintenance management systems
