Job Summary

The Farm Investigations Specialist reviews complaints, investigations, and positive sample results to support organic certification for farms, while providing technical services to certified clients and new applicants. Responsibilities include developing and executing investigation plans in line with NOP regulations, reviewing inspection reports and high-risk files, issuing resolution notices, communicating compliance requirements to clients, and maintaining and utilizing a complex database. The role emphasizes independent analysis, timely decisions on compliance outcomes, and collaboration to develop tools and resources (templates, instructions, and platform text) to support certification processes. The successful candidate will have relevant regulatory/compliance experience in organic agriculture, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work remotely from the United States.

Required Qualifications

  • Five years’ experience as a Farm Certification Specialist including demonstrated leadership/expertise or equivalent experience in a similar role or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Understanding of organic certification standards including familiarity with the National Organic Program (NOP) regulations, certification processes, and certification requirements.
  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams) and database programs.
  • Ability to think critically, logically, and autonomously through complex investigations to propose solutions to problems.
  • Highly organized, motivated, with a strong attention to detail to manage and prioritize multiple complex cases simultaneously.
  • Clear, direct, and concise written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with various groups and demographics of people.
  • Proficiency providing technical support and building trust through customer service.
  • Experience working remotely with in-office and remote teams.
  • B.A. or B.S. degree or higher in agriculture or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of degree requirement.
