Job Summary
Conduct front-line case management to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, ensuring quality record management and implementing case plans. Coordinate interventions and advocate for desired outcomes while building respectful relationships with service users, agencies, partners, and community members. Adhere to Assessment and Case Management procedures, ISO 9001:2015 standards, and Workplace Health & Safety policies. Travel away from home to achieve family finding and reunification goals, maintaining a strength-based, culturally sensitive approach aligned with the Child Protection Act 1999.
Required Qualifications
- Holds a current C Class Queensland Driver's Licence
- Current Working with Children Check, 'Blue Card'
- Holds or is willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Experience at successful service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Qualifications or knowledge relating to Child Protection
- Experienced in client engagement and case collaboration
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage
- Knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999
- Competent in use of Microsoft Office and client management system software
- Physical ability to undertake job responsibilities, including the capacity to travel away from home to achieve family finding and reunification goals
- Ability to communicate effectively; spoken and written
- Outcome orientated, self-starter, motivated and able to self-manage work tasks and achieve results
- Demonstrable capacity to find family and achieve positive outcomes for children and families
- Understanding and knowledge of the child protection system
- Strong advocate for children, young people and families
- Thorough understanding of and ability to practice a strength based and culturally sensitive approach with children/youth, their parents and extended family/kin
- An awareness of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture and society, the issues relating to Aboriginal children and family welfare and the ability to effectively communicate with Aboriginal families
- Strong connection to and knowledge of local Indigenous Community
- Experience in developing and managing case plans
