Job Summary
Provide culturally safe, collaborative casework support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children affected by family violence. Undertake comprehensive risk assessment, case planning, risk management, and safety planning in line with the MARAM framework. Collaborate with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, specialist family violence services, and broader agencies to deliver holistic support. Facilitate referrals to services such as mental health, housing, and alcohol and other drug support. Maintain accurate case notes, correspondence, and reports to support quality service delivery and accountability. Assess eligibility for and administer Family Violence Flexible Support Packages. Participate in supervision, team meetings, reflective practice, professional development, and relevant network meetings. Build strong, collaborative relationships across internal programs and external agencies. Work full-time with occasional after-hours duties.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Development, or related discipline
- A Victorian Employees Working with Children's Check card or willing to obtain one
- Willing to obtain a Police Check at Djirra's expense
- Driver's License
- You have a strong understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community and the impact of family violence on Aboriginal women
- You understand family violence within an Aboriginal cultural framework, centring the experiences and gendered nature of violence against Aboriginal women
- You're committed to engaging effectively with disadvantaged women experiencing family violence, bringing a flexible, non-judgemental, and empowering approach
- You can work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a demanding environment
- You bring sound interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and can prepare clear reports and documentation
- You understand the complexities of confidentiality and mandatory reporting obligations
- You're comfortable using MS Office and other data systems, and confident picking up new platforms (e.g. SHIP for compliance reporting)
- You have a flexible, positive approach to working hours, including occasional after-hours work
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply
Desired Qualifications
- At least 2 years' experience in the family violence sector, preferably with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women would be highly regarded
