Job Summary
Conduct home visits and residential checks to monitor client safety and quality of care. Provide modeling techniques, education, and supportive services to at-risk families to prevent child abuse and neglect. Assist Case Managers with assessments, referrals, and linkages while transporting clients to appointments and visitations. Develop and maintain client records, including initial assessments, goal planning, and progress notes. Facilitate educational classes on parenting skills and behavior management, and co-lead parent-child play groups. Participate in weekly staff meetings and departmental training to stay current on dependency issues. Perform other duties as assigned, including back-up support and on-the-fly project management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years of experience working with children and families
- Ability to make home visits
- Ability to travel
- Ability to perform at a high level of autonomy, with general supervision
- Ability to act decisively when necessary to protect client
- Ability to establish trusting relationships
- Ability to handle emergencies and potentially life-threatening situations
- Ability to observe and report the functioning of individuals and families
- Ability to effectively provide customer service satisfaction with positive service delivery results
- Ability to perform under strong demands in fast-paced, diverse, sometimes ambiguous environments
- Ability to handle stressful, sensitive situations; preserve confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Ability to meet critical deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail, accuracy and quality
- Ability to solve practical problems and document results using sound judgment
