Job Summary
Family Support Specialist II provides comprehensive case management, referrals, and coordination with community and supportive service activities to promote economic self-sufficiency for families, enhance quality of life for seniors and people with disabilities, and increase opportunities for residents; responsibilities include conducting intake and assessments, enrolling residents in the family support program, developing Development Plans with families, facilitating access to social services, preserving privacy, tracking resident data in the LEARN system, attending community meetings, and delivering resources and knowledge for financial management and capital access, along with hosting in-person and virtual seminars, and supporting the USI CDFI client base; requires travel up to 25%, occasional nights/weekends, collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, and strong communication and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related field
- 3+ years of experience as a case manager or in direct practice with low-income households
- Valid driver’s license and automobile availability for work use
- Commitment to strengths-based, family-focused service planning and understanding of program philosophies
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
- Independent and proactive work ethic, with strong team collaboration skills
- Availability for evening and weekend functions as required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for diverse communities
- Effective real-time priority management
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Ability to excel in fast-paced, culturally diverse environments
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel) and other common software
