Job Summary

The Family Support Specialist (FSS) will work with the behavioral health home team to ensure that well-coordinated and integrated care is delivered to youth and families served. The FSS will provide leadership and technical assistance in developing and implementing the BHHO family support services. A willingness to share experiences with families, co-workers, and community providers is essential for success in this position. The FSS is an individual who has three or more years of lived parenting experience with at least one child who lived with them for three or more years and who has emotional, developmental, behavioral, substance use or mental health concerns. The FSS must be able and willing to articulate their lived experiences and navigate child-serving systems of care (such as children's behavioral health, child welfare, special education or juvenile justice) on behalf of that child. The role requires proof of vehicle insurance, a Maine driver’s license, and compliance with other listed qualifications. Flexibility in schedule and location, mileage reimbursement, and ongoing training are provided; equal employment opportunity is supported.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Parent/Family Peer certification or provisional
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Proof of vehicle insurance at $50K/$100K and a valid Maine drivers license
  • Entry level computer skills
