Job Summary
Family Support Specialist 2 at Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch delivers in-home and community-based support to youth and families, develops individualized plans, collaborates with treatment teams, and ensures accurate EMR documentation. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (or equivalent experience), 21+ years old, background checks, and willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR and Violence Intervention Prevention certifications. Responsibilities include empowering families, designing impactful plans, direct home/school/community support, inter-professional collaboration, PQI participation, and ongoing supervision and training. Must be able to drive to various locations and uphold YBGR values with strong interpersonal, communication, and cultural humility skills.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Successful completion of fingerprint criminal background check and child abuse registry clearance as required by the State of Montana
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a human services field or equivalent combination of education and experience (6 years human services experience = Bachelor’s degree; each year of post-secondary human services education = 1 year experience)
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with youth and families while maintaining appropriate therapeutic boundaries
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and conflict resolution
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a treatment team
- Proficiency in electronic documentation, typing at least 35 words per minute; familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 preferred
- Consistent attendance and reliability in performance of duties
- Sound judgment, ethical decision-making, and the ability to remain composed in high-stress situations
- Will be required to drive company or personal vehicle to other YBGR locations and/or families homes, schools, and communities to meet with employees, youth, families, or other stakeholders
