Job Summary
Provide leadership in creating a collaborative working environment where staff, youth, and families feel respected. Use personal past experiences to offer peer support to parents and caregivers, assisting them with engagement, advocacy, and resource connection. Develop and implement family support treatment plans while delivering effective peer support through the Coordinated Specialty Care framework. Conduct timely clinical documentation into EHR systems and administer data tools at specified collection points. Attend youth and family team meetings, coach families on self-advocacy, and maintain healthy boundaries. Carry an after-hours work phone to provide telephone and face-to-face support outside regular hours. Complete mandatory county and state trainings and participate in required coaching sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Must be the biological or adoptive parent or person in the parent role who has been the primary caregiver of a child with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges
- Must have experience navigating the Virginia behavioral health systems with their child
- Prior experience related to psychosis or at-risk for psychosis (either as a family member or family support partner)
- Experience collaborating with families, natural supports, and other community stakeholders
- Be a proficient user level of MS Suite and an EHR
- 1 years of experience providing recovery services in a human services environment
- Experience assessing client needs and providing access to appropriate services
- Experience providing clinical documentation necessary to maintain client records including treatment planning/wellness recovery plan, progress notes, quarterly reviews and annual assessments
- 3 years of experience providing services to youth and families with complex mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders
- 1-2 years of experience providing recovery services in a human services environment
- Experience with and participating in CSC interventions or in family partnership meetings
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Certification or registration or considering certification or registration as a Parent Support Partner, Peer Recovery Specialist or National Certified Peer Specialist
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling or a related behavioral science field
