Family Support Counselor - Social Worker - Kid First Program

Job Summary
Conduct weekly in-home family assessments, develop preservation case plans, and provide crisis intervention to at-risk families. Teach parents parenting skills, nutrition, and safety while assisting families in accessing community resources for housing, food, and employment. Maintain detailed case logs, progress reports, and documentation for all assigned families. Provide 24-hour emergency on-call assistance and attend court hearings as required. This full-time role involves flexible evening and weekend scheduling with mandatory background screening and drug testing. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, one year of experience with children and families, and bilingual Spanish skills are strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related human services field
- at least one (1) year of experience working with children and families with diverse backgrounds
- Experience with domestic violence, substance abuse, child abuse
- knowledge of the child welfare, child development, parenting and social services in Broward County
- ability to intervene in family and crisis situations
- ability to be an advocate in dealing with ChildNet and legal systems
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Must have transportation and be willing to visit clients in their homes
- Valid Florida Driver's License with full access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage
- proof of insurance
- Must possess excellent organizational and case management skills
- Must be fluent in English
- ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals or technical procedures written in English
- ability to type reports and business correspondence in English
- ability to effectively communicate in English
- Must be computer literate
- ability to complete documents in Microsoft Word
- Must be available 24/7 to the families served by the program
- Must be able to attend court hearings as required
