Job Summary
Provide short-term outreach and home visiting services to at-risk families while conducting intake assessments to create service plans and goals. Teach self-sufficiency education classes covering Kauai community resources, budgeting, finance, and vocational development, then link participants to counseling, legal aid, and other community services. Assist families in negotiating systems for needed services and provide transportation to medical, legal, and appointment meetings with supervisor consultation. Maintain participant confidentiality and complete administrative tasks including progress notes, service plans, and reports. Requires a four-year degree, two-plus years of experience, and a valid Hawaii driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency - general major
- Requires basic knowledge or training in a specialized or technical field or trade, such as social work, professional accounting, finance, business administration, and marketing
- Over two years, up to and including four years
- Knowledge of child growth, development and behavior
- Knowledge of positive parenting practices
- Knowledge of case management and advocacy practices and techniques
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with families of diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required
- Valid driver's license
- Current no-fault insurance coverage
- Satisfactory driver's abstract
- Access to an insured vehicle
- Valid Hawaii driver's license
- Clear driver's abstract
- Willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island
- Use of personal vehicle to transport participants, as needed
- Use of agency vehicle to transport participants, as needed
- Willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island (agency vehicle)
- Continued employment contingent on maintaining a clear driver's abstract
- Subject to a criminal background investigation
- Record clear of convictions
- Successful completion of CPR, CPI and/or van driving training
- Successful completion of CPI classes OR other Behavioral Management certification as may be contract mandated
- Successful completion of First Aid classes

- Experience working with families, who have abused or neglected their children, or high-risk families
- Case management experience
