Job Summary
The Family Services Counselor is responsible for supervising and ensuring the safety of children in groups such as Kids Zone, Club Y, and Summer Camp. This role involves planning activities, taking attendance, communicating with parents, assisting with events, and modeling programs tailored to individual children's needs. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work creatively with children, ensuring engagement and control within group settings. Candidates must be at least 17 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess relevant childcare experience.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 17 years old
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of one year working with children or childcare experience preferred
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Prior experience working with children ages 6 months through age 15
- Must enjoy interacting and communicating with children and parents
- Must possess creative ability and nature when implementing program
- Ability to keep children engaged and under control
- First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual (English and Spanish, or English and Creole)
Additional Requirements
- As a condition of employment, submission to Level II fingerprinting background screening required
- Must successfully complete a drug test as part of the drug-free workplace policy
- Medical Marijuana cards do not exempt from passing drug test
