Job Summary
Develop person-and-family centered relationships with children and families receiving services using positive approaches that promote health and wellness. Articulate lessons learned from personal parenting experience to help caregivers create safe home environments. Assist families in identifying crisis precursors and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop treatment and crisis plans. Convey observations to supervisors while engaging community systems like schools and healthcare providers to improve family health. Participate in meetings to share experiences and educate stakeholders on advocacy strategies. Maintain current licensure, certifications, and compliance with agency policies and state/federal regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Certified Family Peer Specialist - National Federation of Families
- Drivers License (Valid) - USA
- Lived experience as a caregiver of a child or youth with behavioral health challenges
- Completion of Family Peer Support training
- Ability to obtain National Certification within 12 months of hire
- Knowledge of behavioral health systems
- Knowledge of community resources
- Knowledge of family advocacy
- Strong communication skills
- Strong engagement skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work collaboratively in community settings
- Current licensure and certification in all agency, state and federal training requirements
- Knowledge of emergency procedures
- Ability to assist in crisis situations
- Ability to drive
- Ability to travel
