Job Summary
Provide strengths-based peer support, education, and systems navigation to parents and caregivers of individuals with behavioral health challenges. Conduct non-judgmental assessments to help families develop care plans and advocate with key stakeholders to ensure needs are met. Facilitate workshops for community partners and maintain accurate service documentation while representing MCF on state and local committees. Build partnerships with schools, agencies, and service providers to improve access to resources. Must live in Somerset County, hold a valid driver's license, and complete required background checks.
Required Qualifications
- Personal, lived experience as a parent or primary caregiver to a child with mental health challenges in the public school system
- Experience with IEPs/504s
- Must live in Somerset County
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Maryland driver's license and access to own vehicle
- in-state travel required
- Successful completion of a background check
Desired Qualifications
- some combination of college and/or professional work experience preferred
- Familiarity with the school system, state and local resources and knowledge of how to access them
- Prior experience assisting other families to obtain appropriate services and supports for their child or family members is desirable
- Ability to build and maintain productive partnerships with agencies and providers
- Active listening skills for providing non-judgmental peer support to families with a strength-based perspective
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to the work of the team
- Strong organizational skills and ability to follow through
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer skills and the ability to efficiently utilize internet search to identify resources
- Ability or willingness to learn how to use a database (Salesforce)
