Job Summary
The Family Peer Advocate provides information, engagement, and advocacy to families raising children or youths up to age 21 facing MH/SUD challenges, coordinating with service providers, supporting transitions in care, and promoting family-centered, empowerment-focused care. Responsibilities include information sharing about resources, eligibility and assessment guidance, outreach to engage families, facilitating family-provider communication, supporting self-advocacy, and helping families integrate into their communities. The role emphasizes leveraging lived experience to support families, involve them in care planning, and promote effective family-driven practice. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent (Assoc. degree preferred), NYS FPA credential or provisional certification within 90 days, and travel with a valid NYS driver's license. Salary ranges from $18.00-$20.00/hour ($37,440-$41,600 annualized), with benefits and growth opportunities in Upstate Caring Partners’ Central New York programs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, minimum, required
- New York State Credentialed as a Family Peer Advocate (FPA) or provisional certification within 90 days
- lived experience as a parent or primary caregiver with navigating multiple children serving systems
- valid NYS Driver’s License (travel required)
