Job Summary
Army Family Nurse Practitioners provide high-level primary care to Soldiers, retirees, and their families as licensed independent providers. Responsibilities include conducting physical exams, performing diagnostic testing, arranging patient referrals, and practicing both autonomously and in collaboration with healthcare professionals. Leadership roles may include guiding integrated teams, acting as a clinical leader, and partnering in evidence-based practice and health care innovation. Opportunities for advanced education and expanded responsibilities are available within the Army Nursing Corps, with service options in the Army or Army Reserve and benefits such as loan repayment, education stipends, and travel.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with Family Nurse Practitioner specialization
- Active RN license in state issuing license
- National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- U.S. citizenship to serve Active Duty
- Permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve
