Job Summary
Provide NP/PA clinical care as a back-up to supervising physician in a private Family Medicine practice. Responsibilities include performing new patient screenings and yearly physical examinations, reviewing patient histories, maintaining EMR, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, reviewing lab/x-ray/ED or admission reports, prescribing medications and treatments, managing acute illnesses and chronic diseases, developing and implementing treatment plans with supervising physicians, providing well-child care and gynecological exams (including pap smears), coordinating care with other providers, educating patients on health risks and preventive care, and contributing to initiatives to improve patient care and practice performance. Requires completion of an accredited NP/PA program and current license/certification; valid Massachusetts NP/PA license; DEA and MCSR registrations; ongoing CME; and ability to work independently in a collaborative team environment.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program
- Current NP or PA license and certification from the appropriate licensing board
- Valid Massachusetts NP or PA License
- Valid Federal DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR) Licenses
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing medical education (CME)
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound clinical judgment
- Adherence to ethical and legal standards in patient care and medical practice
- Experience in and commitment to working with diverse populations
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Understanding and experience in Ambulatory Medical Care Management
- Competency in basic medical and surgical procedures
