Job Summary
Build relationships with families, school staff, and communities to strengthen connections and increase student attendance. Provide direct intervention for chronically absent students by conducting home visits, holding meetings per state guidelines, and creating monitored attendance plans with family support. Transport students and families to school and events while collaborating with school leaders to improve two-way communication. Liaise with public agencies and neighborhood organizations to support youth services, execute Family Academy programming, and drive district-wide advocacy for drop-out recovery and engagement activities. Work flexible schedules including evenings and weekends as required.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in human services, social science, or related field, or work equivalent
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems creatively required
- Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, presentation, and public relations skills
- Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds of families
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and participate in evening and weekend events as required
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk for long distances, climb stairs, and move frequently in and out of a car
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, counseling, or a related field preferred
- Fluency in Spanish preferred
- Advocacy experience preferred
- Community organizing and engagement experience preferred
- Experience with school, family, and community planning activities and programs preferred
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications preferred
