Job Summary
Maintain and organize physical and electronic client files, prepare and edit legal correspondence, and file documents with courts. Manage attorney calendars for appointments and deadlines, coordinate discovery, and conduct basic legal research. Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel while screening calls and greeting visitors. Provide general administrative support to attorneys and staff. Compensation starts at $24/hr for a full-time, 8-hour Monday through Friday schedule. This role is based in person at a growing family law and estate planning firm.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent work experience
- One to two years of full-time experience as a legal assistant
- Knowledge of general office practices and legal terminology
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in family law and/or estate planning
- Familiarity with court filing procedures and local rules
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, ProDoc, and E-filing systems
