Job Summary
Family Law Associate responsibilities include managing all phases of family law cases from intake to completion, including client consultations, drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and attending hearings, mediations, and trials. The role requires developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and court officials; applying legal knowledge to address client issues; conducting thorough legal research and preparing pleadings; representing clients at hearings, depositions, and trials; consulting with and retaining new clients; coordinating with support staff to calendar hearings and deadlines; taking ownership of assignments and meeting deadlines; and using courtroom experience to handle motions and appear before judges. Qualifications include a Juris Doctor, active Washington State license and bar membership, a minimum of 2 years of family law experience (preferably in King County), strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency with legal research, case management software, and Microsoft Office, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in Washington State and current, active membership in the Washington State Bar Association in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing family law, preferably in King County
- Proven experience handling all phases of family law cases, including client communication, drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and courtroom representation
