Job Summary
Family Development Worker at BakerRipley in Houston, TX provides in-home and other services to families and children participating in Early Head Start and Head Start programs; establishes mutually respectful partnerships with families; supports families in reaching goals; offers family literacy opportunities; coordinates and integrates Head Start services to enhance effectiveness; assists families in accessing community resources and crisis support. Responsibilities include maintaining a full case load with timely follow-up, tracking Head Start/Early Head Start services, ensuring accurate documentation, developing strengths-based assessments with families, conducting follow-up meetings and home visits, maintaining a Parent Involvement Calendar, researching community resources, outreach and enrollment paperwork, and coordinating integrated services across Family and Community Engagement, Student Support Services, Family Wellness, Eligibility, Recruitment, and Attendance and Child Development Services. Preferred/Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s in a related field, 1-3 years of relevant experience, demonstrated teaching/training skills, crisis management, cultural/linguistic sensitivity, strong communication skills, knowledge of local resources, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and a Family Development Credential to be obtained within 1 year.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Sociology or related field. Combination of lesser education combined with years of experience may be considered.
- 1-3 years - A minimum of three (3) years experience in a social service setting working with children and/or families.
- Demonstrated teaching or training skills.
- Capacity to problem solve, handle crisis, and work with families and children of low-income backgrounds.
- Ability to work sensitively with families of diverse ethnic, language and cultural backgrounds
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of local community resources.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
- Must receive Family Development Credential within 1 Year
