Job Summary
Family Caseworker I provides case management for tribal citizens and families involved in or at risk of involvement with the child welfare system, aiming to safeguard children while maintaining connections to family, community, and culture. Responsibilities include reviewing legal documents under ICWA, collaborating with tribes and social-service partners, conducting case planning, court hearings, home visits, and staffings, recruiting foster and resource families, and producing regular reports. Requires knowledge of ICWA and related laws, strong written and verbal communication, ability to navigate client management programs, and a valid driver’s license; travel by small aircraft or ferry may be required. Regular schedule is M-F, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, with full-time status. Bachelor’s degree in social work or closely related field is required; substitution of 2 years’ experience for degree is allowed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW) or closely related field
- Must be 21 years of age with a Valid Driver's License
- 2 years' experience as a Family Caseworker I or equivalent may be substituted
