Family Advocate - Xenia & Jamestown

Work with families to assess their strengths and support them in setting and meeting individual and family goals. Guide families toward healthy self-reliance and prepare children for successful transitions to kindergarten and beyond. Utilize Head Start/Early Head Start tools to identify obstacles and surmount them; recruit, enroll, and maintain engagement with eligible families; develop rapport through ongoing interactions; initiate Family Strengths Assessments and Family Partnership Agreements; provide ongoing support toward identified goals; perform real-time data entry to ensure program integrity; partner with local community resources; advocate for families; encourage completion of health screenings; assist in finding medical and dental homes; guide families to available services and crisis intervention resources; collaborate with teachers to ensure effective program flow; plan and co-facilitate parent meetings and Family Fun Nights; participate in background checks and health screenings; support credentialing or certification within 18 months; requires flexibility in hours and lifting up to 40 lbs; valid driver’s license required; strong interviewing and active listening skills; knowledge of drug culture in the community; operating in Xenia, OH area under CORS program.
