Family Advocate

Family Advocate assists with enrollments, conducts family interviews and assesses family needs, maintains an accurate service record for each family, and refers families to community service providers. Responsibilities include conducting Family Needs Assessments, developing transition plans for Head Start and Early Head Start families, maintaining caseloads of up to 60 families, completing enrollment and intake processes using NOHO and Child Plus, ensuring compliance with enrollment timelines, maintaining documentation and attendance records, conducting home visits, providing presentations and trainings to families, coordinating with Education on transition plans and with DIS/MH on IEP/IFSP, and ongoing outreach within the service area. The role requires strong collaboration, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a multilingual, multicultural environment. Preferred qualification includes AA/BA in Social Service fields or a Family Development Credential (FDC) and at least one year of relevant experience; bilingual Spanish/English is preferred. The position is based in Oakland, CA, within the Unity Council's Children and Family Services programs, and involves local travel and full-time employment.
