Job Summary

Family Advocate provides program case management services to children and families, including health, social services, literacy, and training in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and federal/state regulations. Responsible for enrollment, home visits, child health screenings, linking families to community resources, coordinating with staff to support child attendance, and facilitating parent involvement and transition activities. Executes data entry, monthly reporting, and maintains confidentiality in handling family records; collaborates with supervisors to develop Care Plans and delivers staff training as needed. Emphasizes partnership with community agencies to ensure services meet child and family needs, and supports safety practices and emergency preparedness.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A credential, certificate or degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field
  • OR 1 year of work experience in health and/or social services field or in a role combining administrative and customer support duties AND
  • Must complete OCDC’s Family Advocate Certificate Level 1 within 12 months of hire
  • OR 2 years of work experience in an environment working with children and/or families AND
  • Must complete OCDC’s Family Advocate Certificate Level 1 within 12 months of hire
