Job Summary
Family Advocate responsible for ensuring eligible families meet program criteria and accessing social/health services. Conducts client interviews (individuals, families, groups) to assess needs, develops and implements plans (IEP/IFSP) and connects families with community resources; conducts home visits; builds local partnerships to secure employment, education, welfare, health, housing, and trainings; communicates with parents to motivate attendance at PCC and Policy Council meetings; provides training to parents and staff; ensures compliance with health, mental health, and disability service processes; requires bilingual English/Spanish abilities and experience in federally funded programs; based in Mt. Vernon, WA with on-site duties. Includes travel, background checks, immunization and safety training, and ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or higher degree with the equivalent of 30 quarter credits in adult education, human development, human services, family support, social work, early childhood education, child development, psychology or another field directly related to job responsibilities
- Credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field (Family Development Credential) or equivalent
- English/Spanish bilingual (speaking/reading/writing)
- Extensive knowledge of child development theories and practices
- Experience in federally funded and regulated environment
- Experience in policy and procedure processes
- Experience in facilitating groups
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience in family concerns and risk management
- Understanding of interrelationships between services and systems
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Ability to gather and analyze data for reports
- Strong customer service focus
- Ability to work with culturally diverse population
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management/recordkeeping
