Job Summary
Fall Semester Fitness Intern in Corvallis, OR participates in hands-on supervision and fitness/wellness guidance for members, assists in compiling participation data and reports, conducts fitness evaluations, interprets test data to prescribe cardiovascular and strength programs, develops/implements at least one special program or event, shadows a Personal Trainer and trains a client under supervision, demonstrates ability to teach at least one group exercise class through team teaching, contributes to marketing of fitness and wellness programs via website, newsletters, events, and social media, assists in coordinating client site events related to health and wellness, instructs special fitness programs as needed, assists fitness/wellness staff with day-to-day office duties, and attends regular office hours/meetings; minimum requirements include being a junior or senior level student pursuing a degree in relevant fields, holding CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or will be by start date), and having or pursuing certifications in Personal Training or Group Exercise
Required Qualifications
- Junior or Senior level Bachelor's or Master's level student working towards a degree in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Recreation, Health Education, Health Promotion or related field from an accredited college or university
- Current CPR, First Aid and AED certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required (or will be required by start date of internship)
- Personal Training or Group Exercise certification from ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NSCA or NASM a plus
- Communication skills to instruct and interact effectively with a diverse group of individuals
