Job Summary

Draft letters and motions, assist with hearing preparation, and conduct client interviews to identify legal issues in cases involving housing, consumer, family, and public benefits law. Research case histories, draft pleadings, and help staff prepare for hearings before courts or administrative agencies. If appropriate, advocate in court under Law Student Practice requirements. Participate in community outreach activities to learn about client needs within the San Luis Valley. This unpaid, part-time internship requires a minimum of 10 hours per week and is open to students seeking course credit through the Externship Program.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to legal issues affecting low-income individuals
  • Strong interest in research, writing and interviewing
  • Candidate should be confident and able to work both independently and as part of a team

Desired Qualifications

  • Spanish-speaking ability
  • Part-time, minimum of 10 hours per week preferred
