Job Summary
Interpret and enforce flag football rules while supervising spectators, participant conduct, and seasonal officials on game dates. Manage field preparation, equipment inventory, and safety protocols, including performing first aid and making weather-based decisions. Provide internal and external customer service by answering questions, resolving problems, and communicating issues to the Recreation Coordinator. Fill in for missing officials and ensure coaches deliver safe, proper instruction to all participants.
Required Qualifications
- at least 18 years old
- experience in athletics, recreation, or a related field

- Knowledge of officiating, sports, and recreation
- Skilled in operation of listed tools and equipment
- Valid state driver's license or ability to obtain one
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends
- Regular and predictable attendance
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- The employee will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
Desired Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- Less than one year of practical experience in athletics, recreation, physical education, or related field
- Current CPR and First Aid preferred; or the ability to obtain certification within one month
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, officials, coaches, volunteers, participants, and the general public
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to plan and supervise staff and volunteers
- Able to learn and provide quality instructions for rules of play
- Represent the District in a professional manner, exemplifying integrity and excellence always
