Fall 2026 + Spring 2027 Legal Intern, Consumer Protection Unit

Conduct client intakes, interview litigants, and perform legal research for consumer debt cases in New York City's Civil Courts. Draft demand letters, pleadings, and motion papers while appearing in court under attorney supervision to defend debt collection actions. Negotiate with opposing counsel and create legal self-help materials. Manage administrative tasks including entering client data, tracking retainers, and organizing court files. Assist staff a legal intake phone line addressing dynamic consumer law issues. This unpaid internship requires current law student status and offers hands-on experience in impact litigation and policy advocacy.
