Job Summary
Outreach Intern at CBPP will help prepare communications for outreach partners, develop new materials and blog content, and research innovative outreach strategies, policies, and procedures that affect eligible individuals’ ability to obtain tax benefits. The role supports the Get It Back Campaign, which promotes the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit, and free tax filing assistance, and involves coordinating with a network of partner organizations. The internship is remote with U.S.-based eligibility; a hybrid schedule is available for interns located in the Washington, DC metro area, requiring in-person work at the DC office at least two days per week. Working hours are typically 30-40 hours per week during core Eastern Time business hours, with flexible scheduling for time zones and class commitments. Compensation scales by student level (undergraduate: $18/hour; bachelor’s: $19/hour; graduate: $20/hour; master’s or JD: $21/hour; doctoral: $20-$22/hour). Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in poverty, work programs, or social policy
- Prior experience with grassroots low-income organizations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet programs
- Ability to communicate with a range of organizations and partners
- Knowledge of programs for families with low incomes
- Experience with social media, graphic design, and video highly desired
- Education: undergraduate students and recent graduates
- Must have documentation of work authorization for the U.S. AND a U.S. Social Security number, as of start date
