Job Summary
Fall 2026 Legal Intern in the ACLU's Reproductive Freedom Project (New York City; remote or hybrid). Interns will gain experience in litigation support and policy advocacy, assisting in all aspects of litigation and related activities. Day-to-day work includes conducting legal research and analysis, drafting memoranda, motions, declarations, and legal pleadings, cite-checking active litigation, supporting development of new litigation projects, and potentially contributing to fact development, background research, or tracking and analyzing bills. Candidates should be law students who have completed at least one year of law school and are based in the United States for the duration of the internship; the program offers course credit only. The internship may be remote or hybrid and is based in New York City; time commitments range from part-time to full-time for the fall duration.
Required Qualifications
- Matriculated law student
- Based in the United States for the duration of the internship
- Completed at least one year of law school before the internship commences
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Ability to conduct complex legal analysis
- Strong oral communication skills
- Ability to balance multiple assignments
- Collaborative attitude and teamwork
- Commitment to public interest law and civil rights and liberties
