Job Summary
The Housing Intern will perform in-depth analyses of research reports and program data on relevant policy issues and assist with attending and reporting on hearings, conferences, and meetings. The internship is remote with a requirement that remote interns be in the U.S.; Washington, DC metro area interns will follow a hybrid schedule with at least two days per week in person at the DC office. Work hours are 30-40 per week during core Eastern Time hours, with schedules flexed to accommodate classwork and time zones. Compensation varies by degree level, ranging from $18 to $22 per hour depending on academic status, with specific rates listed by level (undergraduate, bachelor’s, graduate, master’s/law, doctoral). The program emphasizes CBPP’s mission and commitment to economic justice and racial equity, and invites applicants who can contribute to policy analysis and communications that advance these goals.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interest in housing policy, fair housing, or homelessness issues.
- Work or volunteer experience with housing and/or homelessness issues is a plus.
- Strong research and written communication skills.
- Facility with Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with Stata, R, or another statistical software program is a plus but not required.
- Education: current undergraduates, graduate students, or recent graduates.
