Job Summary
Health Policy Intern supports the Health Policy team by conducting research and performing qualitative and quantitative analysis, assisting with data collection and management, and contributing to strategic problem solving. The role helps analyze how administrative policies and legislative proposals related to ACA, Medicaid, CHIP, and other health care issues affect families and federal/state budgets. The intern will work to translate policy into public-facing products, contribute to writing or graphics work, and advance CBPP’s mission to improve the well-being of low- and moderate-income people and advance racial equity. The internship is remote with required U.S. residency; Washington, DC metro area interns will follow a hybrid schedule with in-person days at the DC office, and interns should expect 30-40 hours per week aligned to Eastern Time, with flexible scheduling as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in health care policy and familiarity with the ACA, Medicaid, and CHIP
- Basic quantitative and analytic skills
- Ability to translate policy into public products through writing or graphics work (preferred)
- Understanding CBPP’s mission and an interest in improving health care for low-income families
- Basic familiarity with U.S. health insurance infrastructure
- Education: current undergraduate students, graduate/PhD students, or recent graduates
- Commitment to CBPP’s mission and to racial equity
