Job Summary

Fall 2026 Food Assistance Intern at CBPP. The internship is remote with a hybrid option for the Washington, DC metro area, requiring 30-40 hours per week during Eastern Time business hours. The Food Assistance team analyzes SNAP, WIC, and other nutrition programs, provides technical assistance, and monitors legislative developments. Responsibilities include compiling and analyzing data, assisting with research projects, and tracking policy developments. Compensation is hourly and varies by academic level (undergraduate $18/hour; bachelor’s $19/hour; graduate $20/hour; master’s $21/hour; doctoral $20-$22/hour). Eligible applicants must be current or recent undergraduate/graduate students in relevant fields and must have work authorization for the U.S. at start date. Required Qualifications

  • Interest in nutrition assistance
  • Demonstrated quantitative skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with graphics software or statistical software such as R or Stata is a plus
  • Experience with nutrition policy, social policy, and/or research experience preferred
  • Work experience with food banks or similar hunger-related organizations is a plus
  • Current or recent undergraduate and graduate students with coursework in public policy, public health, public administration, social work, or a similar field of study preferred
  • Commitment to CBPP’s mission to improve well-being of low- and moderate-income people and advance racial equity
  • International students welcome; visa/work authorization in the U.S. as of start date required
