Job Summary
Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, develop tailored treatment plans, and provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to manage pain and improve quality of life for patients with headaches. Deliver biofeedback and neurofeedback therapy while engaging in interprofessional research focused on headache treatment. Provide training and supervision to psychology and medical trainees regarding psychosocial assessments and interventions. Requires a doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology, APA-accredited internship, and supervised postdoctoral training, with board certification and biofeedback certification within specified timeframes. Board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology is required within seven years of starting this faculty position.
Required Qualifications
- strong background in clinical health psychology and integrated care with medically ill populations
- doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited graduate program
- APA accredited internship
- at least one-year supervised postdoctoral training
- licensed or license eligible in Georgia
- Board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology within 7 years of starting this faculty position
- certification in biofeedback within 3 years of starting this faculty appointment
- Fundamental principles and practices of health psychology and pain psychology
- Comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments of headaches and co-occurring psychological disorders
- Evidence-based interventions (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness therapies) to reduce headache frequency, mitigate pain and its impact, improve functioning, and enhance quality of life
- Evidence-based interventions for psychological disorders that co-occur with headaches (e.g., depression, anxiety, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, personality disorders, bipolar disorder)
- Interprofessional teamwork and collaboration
Desired Qualifications
- background in health psychology, pain psychology, and/or specialized treatments for headaches
- Biofeedback and/or neurofeedback therapy for headache (preferred, not required)
