Job Summary

Conduct teaching, service, and research duties in the occupational therapy field under the supervision of the Director. Assist the university in implementing the Statement of Purpose and long-range institutional and financial plans. Maintain professional standards, including licensing and certification rules, while providing academic advising for current and potential students. Use active learning strategies to teach entry-level Master of Occupational Therapy learners and evaluate student learning. Engage in university and professional service through committee appointments, continuing education offerings, and clinical practice. Mentor students on scholarly projects and demonstrate ongoing research expertise while adhering to accreditation standards for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree awarded by an institution accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body
  • At least two years of clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in specific area of instruction
  • Unencumbered occupational therapy license in Mississippi
  • National board certification from NBCOT
  • Membership in the Mississippi Occupational Therapy Association (MSOTA)
  • Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)
  • Mobility to work in a standard classroom, lab, or office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Strength and agility to move files, paper boxes, and minor office equipment
  • Ability to maintain office hours and perform duties in an on-campus setting

Desired Qualifications

  • Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD)
  • Documented scholarship and research
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instructional design to meet the mission and vision of the program
  • Two or more years of academic or clinical teaching experience
