Job Summary
The Faculty Events Manager is accountable for all facets of the Faculty of Mathematics events, including event strategy, planning and coordination, marketing and communications, logistics, administration, budgeting, and evaluation (e.g., faculty/staff/student awards events, building openings, donor and alumni events, student recruitment events). Responsibilities include developing the annual strategic plan for events, implementing integrated communications, managing online registration, executing a calendar of events, supporting recruitment efforts, and overseeing supplier relationships and budgets (ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 per event). The role also involves human resources administration (co-op students, volunteers), miscellaneous administrative duties, vendor/database management, event reporting, and providing exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Required skills include independent time management, multitasking across multiple projects, strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, organizational and analytical abilities, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, UW web content management, and event software such as Zoom; familiarity with Raiser’s Edge and Advancement Tracker is an asset. Required Qualifications
- University undergraduate degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience minimum of 4 years of event management experience with demonstrated experience in managing and promoting large-scale and high-profile events
- Proven ability to multi-task, manage a large volume, conflicting priorities, and deadlines
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
- Project management experience with ability to manage concurrent projects under tight deadlines
- Proven leadership and volunteer management experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft suite and UW’s web content management system; knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and Advancement Tracker is an asset
