Job Summary
FACS—Food, Art and Conservation Science teacher at Hood River Middle School (1.0 FTE) responsible for delivering a STEAM-linked program that connects ecology, sustainability, culinary arts, and agricultural sciences, with instruction also in Art. Responsibilities include advising and communicating student progress to families, assessing and documenting progress, collaborating with staff and community partners, preparing instructional materials, ensuring a safe learning environment, and maintaining attendance and records. Requires a valid Oregon Teaching License with Family and Consumer Science and Art endorsements; eligible to teach at the middle school level; experience with lab activities, assessment tools, and differentiation for diverse learners; bilingual English/Spanish preferred; 192-day contract for the 2025/26 school year with salary range approximately $59,112 to $99,834 depending on district scale.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a valid Oregon Teaching License with a Family and Consumer Science and Art endorsement
- Experience teaching at the middle school level
- Bilingual ability in English/Spanish preferred
- Knowledge of the Common Core state standards
- Skills to motivate students and communicate with diverse backgrounds
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to varied learning styles
- Ability to maintain records and meet deadlines
- Experience with planning, assessment and collaboration with teams
- Training in GLAD/SIOP desired
- Strong classroom management and safety practices
