Job Summary
Maintain school grounds and facilities through daily landscaping, heavy equipment operation, and carpentry tasks. Address immediate safety concerns, remove snow and ice, and prepare materials for special events. Install playground equipment, fencing, and drainage systems while ensuring all tools and machinery remain in safe operating condition. Complete documentation for work orders and chemical applications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Valid state issued Driver's License
- Must obtain and maintain Defensive Driving certificate by the conclusion of the district-provided training course
- Criminal background check
- Oral and written communication skills

- Ability to maintain effective working relationships

- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Ability to perform basic math including calculations using fractions, geometry, and algebra
- Ability to follow all safety protocols, wear Personal Protective Equipment, and proper handling of hazardous materials
- Ability to manage workload and schedule/prioritize workload
- Ability to work with handheld or power tools
- Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance expectations and to follow district procedures for absence reporting
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Trustees policies, District policies, and building and department procedures
- Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate/required safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
- Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, etc.
- Operating knowledge of district information technology systems and department-specific software and equipment required within 3 months after entering position
- Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals
- Operational knowledge of all powered equipment used to perform job functions, such as heavy equipment, welders, grounds keeping equipment, surveying equipment, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- 1-year experience in grounds maintenance or construction
- Pesticide Applicators License
