Job Summary
Facility Security Guard position with Utah Transit Authority (UTA) in Salt Lake City. Responsibilities include protecting employees and customers, monitoring and controlling access to UTA facilities, identifying unsafe activities or hazards, and responding to emergencies. The role involves answering incoming calls and routing them to the appropriate office, preparing daily activity reports, patrolling on foot to cover long distances, and maintaining mobility for emergency responses. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, Utah driver’s license with clean driving record, strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure, and familiarity with basic PC tools (Word, Excel, Outlook). Night shift on weekends (5:00 PM–5:00 AM) with potential for other shifts/locations; part-time with benefits including PTO, holidays, wellness programs, and transit passes. Must be able to walk long distances and kneel/bend to investigate tight spaces; CPR/first-aid training preferred; BCI access certification may be required. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Utah driver’s license
- Safe driver with no more than four moving violations in the past three years
- Cannot have more than one DUI in the last ten years
- Must have good interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to make quick concise decisions under stress
- Must be mobile to respond to emergencies
- Ability to answer incoming calls and transfer to appropriate office
- Basic familiarity with PC computers including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to prepare daily activity reports and email to management
- Ability to walk long distances and stand/sit for long periods
- May be required to obtain/maintain certification for BCI access
- CPR or first-aid training preferred
- Regular and predictable attendance required
