Job Summary
Maintain a clean and safe facility and grounds at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex, including setting up and storing recreation equipment for programs and events. Operate tools such as scissor lifts, floor scrubbers, and ice edgers, while performing ice installation, maintenance, and removal during the operating season. Complete daily aquatics tasks like water testing, chemical adjustments, and backwashing, and monitor aquatic systems using control check sheets to ensure safe conditions. Record completed tasks and deficiencies in established logs, and respond to or escalate operational issues as required. Participate in the emergency on-call rotation and work weekday, evening, and weekend shifts in all weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- 1 year experience in Recreation Facility Operations
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License
- Ability to obtain the following certifications: WHMIS certification, Pool Operator Level 1, Fall Protection, High Five, Intermediate First Aid, Fit Testing
- Ability to understand and comprehend verbal & written instructions
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the work of this position
- This is an active role which requires walking, standing and lifting up to 50lbs
- Work weekday, evenings, and weekend shift work
- Work in all weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in Pool operations preferred
- Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed AARFP Arena Operator Level 1 and AARFP Pool Operator 1
- Ability to complete Arena Operator Level 2
- Knowledge in Alberta Public Swimming Pool Regulations considered an asset
- Experience in arena maintenance and ice resurface operation is an asset
- Training/courses or certifications in the areas of arena equipment operation
- Other trade skills relevant to building maintenance such as mechanics or carpentry
- Building Maintenance Certificate
- Basic knowledge of facility mechanical systems (HVAC, filtration, or arena systems) is considered an asset
