Job Summary
Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure building safety and functionality. Respond promptly to work orders, coordinate with external vendors, and document all maintenance activities within work order software. Address security concerns, maintain grounds and storage areas, and ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, and fire safety standards. Provide on-call support for emergencies and travel between multiple sites as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or general carpentry
- Valid California Driver's License
- Personal auto liability insurance
- Personal vehicle in good driving/operating condition
- OSHA Safety & Health Fundamentals Certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Successful completion of a background check
- Pre-employment physical and PPD skin test
- Current Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Ability to be self-directed and work independently with limited supervision
- Possess attention to detail and ability to maintain a high-quality of work
- Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to changing priorities and workload
- Strong knowledge of safety standards and ability to apply safety practices to all aspects of facility maintenance, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, fire codes, and infection control protocols
- Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in the various building maintenance trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, heating and ventilating, air conditioning, and sprinkler installations
- Knowledge of custodial and cleaning practices, materials, standards, and schedules applicable to the health care industry
- Knowledge of personal protection equipment
- Knowledge and understanding of the safe use, storage, disposal and transport of cleaning chemicals
- Ability to understand the Globally Harmonized Systems of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) as appropriate
- Ability to recognize and accommodate changing priorities as communicated by the Facility Operations Manager and to meet short- and long-term deadlines/goals
- Applies good judgement, resourcefulness, and flexibility to resolve issues and adapt to changing circumstances
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities in English
- Ability to convey information clearly and professionally to staff and vendors
- Ability to build positive relationships with diverse populations, including staff and vendors
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team demonstrating sound listening skills to receive directions and feedback
- Ability to remain calm and effective when priorities shift, deadlines change, and unexpected issues arise
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, reliability, and ethical standards
- Ability to consistently demonstrate punctuality, attendance, and responsibility in work performance
- Proficient in using computers and web-based applications, including timekeeping systems, online training platforms, facility management software, and email communication tools
- Possess strong recordkeeping skills and ability to maintain accurate files and records
- Ability to understand and incorporate detailed requirements into action plans and implement them
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, or at heights
- Sufficient vision, including color perception, to perform inspections, identify safety concerns, and read equipment displays or labels
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment
- Ability to drive between multiple facilities to provide on-site support
Desired Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience in facilities or building maintenance and custodial work/grounds keeping
- Experience working in medical and/or commercial food service settings
- Experience with maintaining floors (stripping, waxing, buffing, carpet cleaning)
- COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccinations
