Job Summary
The Facility Engineer will oversee the safe, efficient operation of hospital facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, fire protection, and backup power. Responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance of building equipment, ensuring regulatory and infection-control compliance, coordinating with contractors and vendors, supporting energy-efficiency initiatives, monitoring utility usage, and maintaining documentation and compliance reports. The role also involves assisting with facility renovations and emergency response to minimize downtime, with emphasis on maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Key skills include troubleshooting, risk assessment, project coordination, contractor management, and strong communication in a healthcare setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities, or related Engineering field
- Experience in facility maintenance or engineering operations, preferably in hospitals or healthcare environments
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, medical gas systems, and building maintenance
- Familiarity with healthcare safety regulations and compliance standards
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency situations
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Experience in hospital facility management
- Knowledge of infection control and healthcare facility standards
- Understanding of safety regulations and accreditation requirements
- Project coordination and contractor management skills
