Job Summary
Provide highly individualized services in the community to individuals with mental health, substance use, or intellectual and developmental disabilities. Meet with clients to offer advice and support aligned with treatment plans, assist in peer support groups, and help resolve minor problems through daily decision-making. Serve as an advocate by accompanying clients to meetings, leading recovery dialogues, and fostering healthy relationships via community activity participation. Model effective coping and self-help techniques while observing client well-being and discussing findings. Inform clients on community resources and empower them with skills for successful living.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified Mental Health Professional Status
- Peer Support certification
- certificate of Peer Support supervision
- High School Diploma
- GED
- 1 year of experience working with persons with the population supported
- Certified as a Peer Support Specialist
- 1 continuous year as a current or former recipient of treatment (including mental health/substance abuse treatment or diagnosis)
- eligibility for certification as Peer Support Specialist by the governing agency
- minimum of twenty (20) hours of training specific to the required components of the specific service definition including crisis response
- Valid drivers' license

- Ability to pass background check
- Ability to pass drug screen
- CPR certification
- first aid certification
- NCI certification

- Pre-employment screening: Complete criminal background
