Job Summary
Facility Assessor for Ottawa/Oakville. Independently conducts on-site assessments of roof, envelope, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical building systems and site infrastructure, with liaison to clients as needed. Reviews drawings for quantity take-offs and prepares multi-discipline Facility Condition Assessments, reserve fund studies, capital planning projects, technical/building audits or other investigative reports with observations, conclusions, recommendations and repair budgets. Utilizes proprietary software (SLAM CAP, VFA, Facility and Asset Planner) for data collection and reporting. Maintains high-quality, concise reports per company formats, manages project timelines and costs to support profitability, and completes inventory tagging (Make, Model, Serial Number; barcode/QR). Supports energy and ADA audits, facility usage reviews, and inventory management. Requires proficiency in MS Word/Excel and strong written and verbal communication; willingness to travel up to a week at a time; valid driver’s license and access to insured vehicle. Remote work with up to 50% travel is offered.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of relevant College or University-Level Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Civil/Structural or Building Science related Program(s)
- Related Facility Assessment or industry experience
- Knowledge of construction materials and products, building components, material deterioration mechanisms and repair and restoration methods
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Effective, responsive communication (verbally and written)
- Must be willing to work at heights, including climbing ladders and accessing rooftops
- A valid driver’s license and access to insured vehicle for travel to project sites are required
- Ability to travel for up to a week at a time is required
- Knowledge of Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) Methodology and ASTM Uniformat II Classification System
- Knowledge of municipal, state and/or national building and fire codes
- Proficiency in Capital Planning software such as SLAM CAP, VFA. Facility or Asset Planner
- Knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1, EnergyStar, Federal Energy Incentive programs, ADA are considered assets
