Facilities Wastewater Treatment Operator

Job Summary
Manage wastewater plant objectives and testing for chemical, organic, and biological parameters, including sample collection, preparation, submission, and regulatory compliance reporting. Act as the subject matter expert for wastewater systems by reviewing check sheets, controlled documents, and technical reference materials. Represent operations in regulatory audits, support deviation investigations, CAPAs, and change control management. Plan, coordinate, and execute shutdowns and mid-level projects while ensuring resources meet schedules, regulations, and safety standards. Diagnose and resolve complex operational problems, provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams, and manage outside contractors through work orders, permits, and safety training. Maintain SCADA, SAP, and Veeva access while ensuring accurate documentation and safety policy adherence. This on-site role requires one to two months of on-call rotation for emergencies and maintenance malfunctions.
Required Qualifications
- Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection
- 5+ years of experience as a wastewater plant operator in a commercial or industrial environment
- Experience working in lab environments
- Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments
- High school, technical diploma, or equivalent technical experience
- On-site role
- On call for one or two weekends a month
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to troubleshoot
- General mechanical aptitude
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and SAP
- Familiarity with good manufacturing practice, safety and regulatory requirements
- Strong written skills for creating procedures, specifications, and maintenance plans
