Job Summary
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on campus buildings, equipment, and infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Troubleshoot issues, complete minor repairs, and conduct routine inspections to identify safety and operational concerns across the 40-acre site. Assist with general facility tasks like painting, carpentry, and event setup for school activities, while maintaining tools, inventory, and maintenance records. Coordinate with faculty, staff, contractors, and vendors to ensure a safe, functional environment. Occasional evening and weekend work is required for emergencies and special programs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (3) years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a related trade
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid California driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to read work orders, blueprints, equipment manuals, and safety documentation
- Vision and manual dexterity sufficient to inspect equipment, perform repairs, and operate tools safely
- Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Work on ladders, scaffolding, rooftops, and elevated work areas
- Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions
- Operate hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, carts, and school vehicles safely
- Walk and stand for extended periods throughout a 40-acre campus
- Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Be available for occasional evening and weekend work to support events, athletic programs, emergencies, special projects, and campus operations
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple assignments
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality work
- Excellent customer-service skills and ability to communicate professionally with students, faculty, staff, parents, and contractors
- Dependable, adaptable, and willing to support the evolving needs of the Facilities Department
- General knowledge of OSHA and CAL-OSHA safety standards
Desired Qualifications
- Trade school, technical certifications, or related education preferred
- Demonstrated ability to perform general maintenance tasks involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical systems
- Working knowledge of commercial building systems and preventative maintenance practices
